Lights up the hubby, plugs in my earphones, sits back and the soothing sounds of Good Vibes Radio start playing. It’s like shifting into a different world.

I have a broad musical taste. From all the different house subgenres you can think of, Hiphop, R&B to all the party Jazz our parents used to play whilst we were growing up, you name it. In essence, music is like oxygen to me. I breathe through it. Through their vinyl sounds, Good Vibes Radio has awakened a musical interest I never knew exists within myself.

Good Vibes Radio is taking it back to the future. We thought vinyls are a thing of the past but the collective have managed to bring it back and push it into the future. Timeless, right?

“Good Vibes Radio comes from the events company, Good Vibes. Due to a high demand for the vibes, Good Vibes Radio was birthed to provide those vibes on a continuous basis. Co-founded by Phumlane (Frank Apollo) and Bafana (Fisto). Other members include; Mpho (Average Joe), Nkosana (Black Monk), Tshiamo (Ibn Salaam), Lebohang (L’easy) and Nyiko Namane (Coltrane).”

“Founded in October 2018. The official launch was on the 10th of February 2019. Which was also translated to out annual Commemoration of J Dilla Day. Which is hosted annually in February. We are based in the Vaal, and our sessions regularly hosted in the Vaal and Jozi (Maboneng). Not all of us were initially friends. We were brought together by the love for a common sound.” – Mpho AKA Average Joe
